About Us

Plas Dolerw is a 19th century country house set in two acres of wooded grounds overlooking Dolerw Park and the River Severn, in Newtown, Powys

The house was purchased by MCRA in 2000 to create a Voluntary Sector Centre - a base for charities, voluntary organisations and community groups in mid Wales.

Thanks to grants from a variety of sources - the National Lotteries Charities Board and the Gwendoline and Margaret Davies Charity in particular - MCRA was able to convert the building, making it fully accessible for disabled people.

Plas Dolerw provides offices for local charities, (eight are currently based here), but rooms are also available for lectures, conferences, training events, seminars, business meetings, exhibitions and workshops. Bookings are welcome from statutory organisations and businesses as well as from community groups. Up to date conference facilities are provided in a building which retains many of its period features.

Plas Dolerw is centrally based in Wales, and an ideal venue for Wales-wide meetings of between 2 and 60 visitors.
